Christmas Day Eve

My journal entry for this evening:-Well it's the evening of Christmas Day 2009. How quickly the biggest day of the year comes to a close. How nice it is to have freed up space on our bedroom floor, in draws and other nooks and crannies. How satisfying it is to know that all those well thought out gifts are with their rightful owners and with the exception of our sons birthday in a couple of weeks present wrapping in the main is done.

How full of greatness i am for all the lovely gifts i have received and to the special friends that have been able to share in our festivities and me in theirs. Peace, Love and Happiness and all the best for 2010 PL:-)

Happy Christmas

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my family and friends a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year. Can you believe that a week today will be Christmas Day and most of us will be enjoying our new gifts and tucking into some yummy food. Another year nearly over. This year for me has been a hectic one with highs and lows but on a creative journey it has been a roller coaster of activity. I have loved the journey i have been on and will be doing one more post between Christmas and New Year documenting that journey.

I love all my blog friends old and new, i hope you have time to stop by. This year i hope to simplify my life a little and so this blog may come to rest. Since starting it i under took two more blogs, showcasing new artists i have come across and the other to give thanks. I hope to continue with them and hope to Blurb this one so that i can look back at all i have added during the two plus years i have been coming here. I have loved sharing my moments and creations with you.

I will continue to craft but that too needs to be simplified. I love to make my felt cuties, i too love to make the odd card now and again and hope to continue painting when the mood takes me. I hope to get my Etsy shop back up and running and refreshed with new items for you to enjoy but have found i have too many balls in the air and my creative mojo went walk about although the last few items i have made or finished have turned out pretty well.

So on that note have a fabulous time, i hope too.I know that with the help of Amazon and Santa i have some inspiring reads in my stocking.

I shall leave you with the infamous words of David Cassidy and The Partridge Family, can't get through Christmas without them :)

Nativity Card Collage

This is my Nativity Card Collage. Can't believe I've finally finished it. I think i started putting this together at the beginning of the year. I had planned to do lots of these with different themed cards but never got further than this one. The backdrop is all Nativity themed pieces of Christmas Cards and then i popped to the local craft shop and did some die cuts of Mary Joseph and a stable and pieced it all together. I finished off the frame with pieces of carolled scrapbook paper. I am so pleased with it. My intention is for it to be a gift and it still might but I'm tempted to keep it too lol :)

I loved doing this Owl and making it look all frosty/wintry.It is definitely my favourite time of year and having been led creatively by the Owls i thought I'd finish on the same note. This is a Tricia-Rennea design you can find her blog here Tricia-Rennea thanks Tricia :)

I wish them all PEACE, LOVE and HAPPINESS at this time and all year through :)

Cre8 09

Now as is the norm this award is being awarded somewhat later than originally expected but whilst we are still in 09 i am still on schedule lol. I made this award originally with four special people in mind, they are Michelle Perkett of Enchanted Inspirations Senta Plyer of As I Was Saying Alicia Padron of My Place Over The Hill and Fannie Narte of Imagine Create Inspire. These four ladies have been a great inspiration, are encouraging and are now really great friends. I love the www and the fact that it enables friendships to flourish where normally our paths wouldn't necessarily cross.

Btw for those of you that are curious the eight is my lucky number and turned on it's side is the sign for infinity so ladies to infinity and beyond :)

Can i just extend this award to MY MUM, my biggest inspiration my whole life. LOVE YOU :)

Love to hear your thoughts :)

Sunday 1 November 2009

Hello everyone, hope you all had a fabulous Halloween. We had a great day yesterday which started with us watching the new Michael Jackson film which was fab.I made some witches cakes which unfortunately didn't go down well with the pumpkin in the house but the blackcurrant jelly complete with jelly babies did lol.

Later in the afternoon we got changed and headed off to trick and treat friends and family. We visited my father-in-law, my mum and my good friend Glenny. By the time we had finished Brett was tired so never got to wander up and down our road but it had been an eventful time and Brett has had lots of fun

My Halloween festivities seem to have lasted for some weeks now as i participated in a Halloween Celebration almost two weeks ago and have been doing Halloween art and creations but it's been very enjoyable.

So it's November 1st, another month gone and it was a busy one. This one is going to be equally busy with the run up to Christmas. I am going to have a bit of a blogiday for the next few weeks. I may pop by with an odd post but want to concentrate on creations for Ivy's Attic and some for friends and family and some baking and anything else i can fit in. Please don't desert me while I'm away there will be all sorts to look forward too come December. I will still be doing my daily ritual of checking in to my ever expanding list of blog favourites to see what you're all doing so here's to the season of goodwill to all ladies and gentlemen and the festivities that follow :)

Snippets of Halloween

So this afternoon i have had the chance to put a few more touches of Halloween in our house and thought i would share them with you.

This is our front room mirror complete with candlestick holders which are normally there, broom stick which i think looks pretty good there but i would have preferred over the front door but some wicked witch might come past and borrow it and not bring it back and last years Halloween boxed card i made with me and hubby from 9yrs ago perched on top of it.

This is the clock we recently acquired from my mother-in-law. They were having a turn out as originally they were off to Spain and this was something i really wanted although it really doesn't go with anything in our home and yet looks quite suited where it is with my Halloween cat perched on top.

Skelly is on the door in our front room, i used him in my Halloween Celebration photos. He glows in the dark so later should put on a better show.

The pumpkin is on the dining room table and 'lights up'
but really doesn't give off much glow, we will be doing one of our own.

Here we have the kitchen window which i have just cleaned and added a couple of bat window clings too, there is also my owl pot sitting and a candle holder ready to burn that i have relocated to the kitchen.

So with one or two exceptions this is us for Halloween, more effort gone into Halloween all round this year especially with all my art that is also on the walls with the exception of one peice i'm saving for next weekend and another peice i hope to make.

How do you do Halloween?

I Digress - Holiday Art

This is a couple of pieces of my holiday art. The first page representing day one and my shell collecting and mammoth feat in driving from Rugby to Mablethorpe which for me was huge. The second drawing/painting represents day two and the view of the beach through an arch at the top of the steps going down to the beach. I photographed it and then drew it from the thumbnail on the camera. It was great to be able to continue my creative journey whilst being away from home with new inspirations :-)

Trick or Treat

This is my finished Pumpkin piece. Accessorized by one or two appropriate decoupage stickers to really make things pop. I hope you like it i really enjoyed painting it as i have all my recent paintings. It's been a great weekend blog hopping at a Hauntingly Magical Celebration hosted by Vanessa at A Fanciful Twist, find her link on the side bar. Thanks to all the wonderful party goers who stopped by, i am still trying to get round everyone but there were such alot of us, in fact I'm sure there are still some that are recovering from the event lol. Still one or two things to add in the run up to Halloween. Brett will be doing costume shifts at this rate as he has such alot of dressing up stuff. I too will be getting in the spirit of things and we're off to see the 'This is it' Michael Jackson movie on the morning of Halloween so that should be good if not a little sad. Keep checking in, like the ladies in the shreddies add, I'll be making more :)

The Halloween Thrill - A Hauntingly Magical Celebration

Do you ever get the feeling
that something’s watching you?

Something you can’t see or touch
but probably can you.

You get a sense of something
standing over there.

Something caught your eye
an icy stare.

The goosebumps start to rear
their heads from underneath your dermis.

As the flames flicker violently
amongst the coals in the furnace.

You want to run but you can’t hide!

The panic rears from deep inside!

The palpitations hammer away!

Will you live to see another day?

The candle flames a -dancing.
And suddenly all is still.

You have just experienced,
the HALLOWEEN thrill!

Happy Halloween, stay safe :)

I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper - Tda!

So here she is the finished peice, i am kinda smiling, i'd love to hear your thoughts. Complete constrast to my previous peices, totally not planned to be monocromatic, if that's the right word but plenty of sparkle and metalic touches.

Monday 5 October 2009

'I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper'

This is one of about half a dozen doodled faces i have done over the last couple of days having completed my 'She always has her head stuck in the clouds painting seen here. I have never been particularly good at faces but all of a sudden they seem to be coming together to a point that I'm happy with, so i just played around with different themes and this is just one of them. I think once the next couple of week are over i shall try to take this one to canvas, maybe before knowing me but as we're soon off on our hols it really ought to wait. Hope you like it :)

Sunday 4 October 2009

Almost there...

Just a little while to go but you can see it coming along...

Full Moon

This was last nights full moon. My husband came in from the garden and said i ought to go take a look and as usual i tried to capture it. Usually unsuccessful but last night, bingo, this is zoomed and cropped but so much detail, can you see the dog in the moon, the man must have made way for him :)

Bewitched

Happy 1st October. Thought i would get the month of October off to a hooting good start by showing you my painting 'Bewitched'. Certainly the owls have done a great deal to inspire me and I'm thinking I'm not doing too bad interpreting them in my own way. Up until a week ago i thought 'A painter i am not' but now i think like all of us that create 'I am manifesting my thoughts to my best of my ability with the tools i have to hand'. There will be more to come so make sure you stop by. Twit Twoooo..............

Halloween Pumpkin

Well here is the progression in last weekends painting. Bit more colour and a bit more detail :)

Monday 21 September 2009

Halloween Pumpkin

Well here is the first stage of my latest painting. Up until now i thought 'A Painter i am not' but i have to say i do consider myself a painter. This was the first stage in the painting, i had already played around with the drawing itself and put the final draft so to speak on to the canvas and given the background a wash of blue sky. I am going to be adding one of these a week up till Halloween when i will be posting the finished article, unless i can wait no longer and may post it during the Halloween Blog Celebration on the 17th of Oct, i hope you stop by and see my progress :-)

Autumn Flames

This is my little arrangement which I've just titled Autumn Flames. The china dish belonged to my Grandma Jeffery. I have several pieces of this set in with a load of mugs I've collected. Never had any use for them but because they were Grandma's I've hung on to them and i thought it might work. The fir cones my son collected for me with Grandmas help last week or the week before. As a youngster my mum always had fir cones at Christmas usually sprayed and voila I've turned into her lol. They are all quite small ones and on Wednesday i got the chance to glitter them. You can't tell very well in the picture but if i get a good close up I'll post it. The candle actually has it's own stand but i thought i would incorporate it into the display. I have moved it to our 'dining' table or what my husband now calls my 'work' table. It's the clearest it's been in probably over four years but still has bits and pieces of paper work on it and a box beside it where i cleared a large amount of paper work from it. I'm a bit of a hoarder and this results in clutter but I'm working hard to clear it and by Christmas we should be able to eat of it, i hope :). So to mark what i perceive to be the slow arrival of Autumn, the changing of the seasons, the shorter, cooler nights and the onset of Halloween and all things festive. The candle will burn and brighten, the fir cones will represent nature and all the beauties it beholds and the plate will represent memories, some old some new but all important in our day to day lives. Happy Autumn :)

Autumn Kite

All day today i've been hearing 'Lets go fly a kite' and as last night i was reading Laura's Secret to Brett about her kite i thought, there is it, your next mission should you accept is to design a kite. So here is my Autumn Kite ready to fly to it's next destination. What do you think?

Halloween Teaser

This is a sneeky part peek at my latest painting. I think it's finished, that's the plan anyway. I'm sure we all do it, sit and stare and think, is that it so I'm posting a piece of it and will show you the rest in the run up to Halloweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!

Speak no Evil!

Ok i couldn't help myself, since my good friend Lee brought me back this little pencil with an Owl on the end I've been doodling. Yesterday i got my paints out and doodled three on to ATC size card and painted them up. Today I've finished two out of three as best i can using my pastel pencils and couldn't wait to share one with you. This is 'Speak no Evil' appropriate for the up and coming spooky season which interestingly seems to be on several like minds already. My good friend Michelle is getting into the spirit of things as are one or two others. This morning i bought a pumpkin outfit for my son from the car boot as this is the first year we are going to take him trick or treating, i may even get dressed up myself, why not, any excuse. I also bought a little black cat softie with brilliant orange eyes and i know she will be a good companion sometime during the ghostly goings on...So tell me what hallowish things will you be doing, do you celebrate if so how?

Monday 17 August 2009

Chinese Dragon

This is another recycled art piece from School, actually probably my favourite out of all that i still have. I distinctly remember doing the background effects by dropping some kind of ink or paint on to water and then laying the paper on top of it, completely random but fantastic backdrop for something like this. Again i have to admit i think i must have traced the dragon from somewhere but the rest is all my own. Played around with him on Picnik again, lot of fun :-)
